Saturday
  • Travel to France (see separate travel section for more information)
  • Arrive at the gite in Nemours
  • Welcome briefing and dinner.
Sunday
  • Venue eg: sector ‘91.1’
  • Warm-up & introduction to bouldering: tactics, good spotting, resting, pacing yourself & skin preservation.
  • Footwork focus
  • Aim for mileage on low to mid grade problems
  • De-brief & warm-down
Monday
  • Change of venue. Eg: Roche Aux Sabots / Cul de Chien
  • More techniques to get stuck into: eg: topping out & rounded mantelshelves, rock-overs & use of heels & toes.
  • Use of subtle balance and fluid movement.
  • How to approach harder problems: move reading and working tactics.
  • Warm down with feedback from coaches & possible video analysis in evening.
Tuesday
  • New venue, eg: Apremont
  • Circuits day - go for mileage and focus on engraining skills learnt from previous days.
  • Warm down with feedback from coaches & possible video analysis in evening.
Wednesday
  • Rest day
  • Slack-lining, visit the hyper market & cafes in Fontainbleau
  • Curry & evening slideshow.
Thursday
  • New venue, eg: Cuvier
  • Take advantage of the rest day to start climbing harder problems.
  • Demos may include use of power and dynamism, steep rock techniques such as flagging & drop knees.
  • Warm down with feedback from coaches & possible video analysis in the evening
Friday
  • New venue, eg: L’elephant
  • Coaching content determined by needs of individuals at this stage.
  • Farewell & final one-to-one sessions with coaches to summarise the week and set future training recommendations.
  • Written reports to be forwarded within a fortnight of the trip.
Saturday
  • Travel home

We will aim to cover all the areas of technique and performance listed at some point during the week, but the order may change according to the choice of crags. We always choose venues according to the requirements of the group and hence it is impossible to stick rigidly to a plan.
